No it's called drumming up an excuse to fire someone, assuming it was true. They wanted to save face by keeping her, yet they didn't want her around so they created a situation where it was most likely she wouldn't have followed her contract, or in some cases would have been dangerous for her to make appearances. It's kind of like asking a black man to speak at a KKK rally.
Anyways, gay marriage is such a hot button topic I don't know why an organization that parades woman around in bikinis for male amusement would want to get involved in politics like that. They should have picked a safer issue.
